Assessment Practitioner Overview
The Assessment Practitioner skills programme develops the specific competence to assess learner competence in an occupational context. Over a focused 20-credit programme, learners master assessment principles, evidence collection and evaluation, and assessment administration, then apply them by planning and conducting real assessments under expert guidance. It is a targeted way to build recognised assessment capability into your training or quality assurance function.
At 282 credits it is the most substantial IT support qualification in our QCTO range, and the depth shows in the content: computer architecture is covered across both hardware and software, alongside data communication and networking, sustainable green computing, and the business communication skills that separate a competent technician from a good one. Your organisation gets a technician who resolves problems rather than escalating them.

- Apply the principles of good assessment practice (fairness, validity, reliability and sufficiency)
- Understand assessment concepts within the QCTO model, including internal and external summative assessment
- Plan and prepare for an assessment and identify and address barriers to fair assessment
- Collect and record evidence using appropriate instruments and tools
- Evaluate evidence and make and justify assessment decisions
- Provide constructive assessment feedback and agree remedial actions
- Administer, record and report assessment outcomes
