“(00:43) My name is Gcina, my surname is Jokanisi, I live in Eastern Cape; I was born in Flagstaff, then I grew up with the family of five children but my mother and my father were not there on that time.

(01:06) So, in 2013 I have seen that I have to go to eShowe to look for a job. Then I came back from eShowe, I never stayed there for the long time. I come back to Showe I stay around here at Malacca, there was my cousins and my brothers here. Through the situation I was living on and the way I was struggling with my mother did not have money to support me, I decided to drop out and coming back here at Malacca and looking for a job and on that time when I’m coming at the site, I never found a job, again. I just stayed for the whole year until it’s 2015.

(01:50) In 2022, I got another opportunity to study Management 3 Learnership at Edge Training. After speaking to Arianne from Malacca Road and Dave, I told them that I want to go further with my career, and that is when they said to me, we will help you to give you this learnership opportunity. What we are doing in Management is how to solve conflict and how to work together and working in a team. It is our responsibility to work together and communicate well with each other. The learnership I’m on was sponsored by 3 Lads and Toucan.

(02:44) I would like to thank 3 Lads, I’m all now working for them. I enjoy working for them as they are teaching me a lot and I’m always learning about coffee and roastery where the beans are from.

(03:08) (There is a Brazil, this one is coming from Brazil, It’s the raw coffee, it’s not even roasted this one. There is the Colombia in this side.)

(03:19) I’m learning about how to count the stock, about how to make a coffee for the others. Also, when having the event, they are showing me a lot how to deal with the coffee machine and how to deal with the customers. I always tell them that if they want me to be a coffee man, I want to be a coffee maker in my life. Then on weekends we get to go to King’s Park Stadium where the Sharks rugby team play. This is a very fun, fast and exciting place to work. This is where I must get quick and focused as we make a lot of coffee for a lot of people at the game. I learn a lot about the pressure and Dante is always helping me and teaching me at the store.

(04:30) I would like to thanks a lot 3 Lads, Kobi, Charl, and Dante for the everything for every chance that they gave me.”
